Overview of Directorate of Seed, Dholi
Directorate of Seed, Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa (Bihar) is the nodal unit for production of various categories of quality seeds of different crops. Directorate of Seed collaborates with university farms, KVKs, Breeder Seed Production unit and public private partnership mode to outline university Seed Production Programme that involves production, monitoring, safe storage, processing packaging, marketing and distribution of quality seeds to the farmers, various government and non-government agencies etc. The directorate also collaborates with other institutions to include newly released varieties in its seed chain. It organizes Training Programme for Extension Personnel and Progressive Farmers to disseminate knowledge of Seed Production Technologies and new varieties of crops. The directorate sells its quality seed under the brand name “Rajendra Pusa Beej” having its own logo.

Coordinated efforts are also made by the Directorate of Seed, Dholi Muzaffarpur at various stages to meet the increasing demand of the seed indents received from Department of Agriculture and Cooperation (DAC), Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India, Mukhyamantri Tibra Beej Bistar Yojana, Minikit Yojana and Contingency Planning of Government of Bihar & also meeting the internal requirements of our various units and farmers of Bihar and other States through the various sale centres “Krishi Seva Kendra”, Directorate of Seed, Dholi, “ATIC”, RPCAU, Pusa and Registered Seed Dealers of different district of Bihar.

Different Externally Funded Research Project and Certificate Courses running under Directorate of Seed, Dholi:
1. AICRP on Seeds (Quality Seed Production-QSP).
- To Produce adequate quantity of nucleus and Breeder Seed of high yielding quality as per national requirement including state of Bihar for production of Foundation and Certified Seed.
2. AICRP on Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP).
- Training/demonstration to the farmers of tribal community along with supply of quality seed or other inputs for improving the livelihood of tribal farmers.
3. Seed Hub on Pulses.
- Increasing supply of quality seeds of important pulses crops to boost indigenous pulses production and productivity in India.
4. Certificate Course.
- Certificate Course of Seed Production Assistant started at Directorate of Seed, Dholi from 2022-23 with intake capacity of 20 students.
